What was in the way
Shopify merchants run their stores on a pile of apps that do too much and fail quietly: a tracking feed that goes stale, quote requests that stop arriving, an export that comes up short. Shopify publishes the standards an app has to meet, and the App Store favours a clear single job. The risk in building five apps is building everything five times: five auth flows, five webhook handlers, five ways to break.
What it is
A brand of small Shopify apps, each doing one job and telling the merchant when something breaks. Order Export sends scheduled order exports by email and checks them. Quote Form takes quote requests and warns if the emails stop. Delayed Ship Alerts gives a heads-up when a shipment goes quiet. Store Monitor reports a lost page or dead link before a shopper finds it. Consent is a cookie banner that matches the theme and lets visitors say no. Free to start, each with a product page and a changelog on cartkept.com.
What I built
One chassis, five apps. Shared packages hold the Shopify auth, session, webhook and database plumbing, so each app is the job and not the plumbing. Every app runs on Cloudflare Workers with React Router and Polaris, with its own migrations and tables. One gate (typecheck, tests, production build) runs before every commit. Each app was frozen at submission with a recorded screencast of the reviewer steps, and the last four passed every step on production first. Installs and uninstalls alert within 15 minutes, and a nightly probe checks every app host from the outside. It was built with an agent as lead developer and me as creative director, and the same discipline cut the other way: another planned app, an accessibility checker, was dropped when its own kill-line probe said stop.
The outcome
All five are in Shopify App Review as of 2026-10-09, so none is live yet, there are no reviews and no revenue, and this entry will be updated when review comes back. What exists today is the speed and the shape: the first app was submitted 3 days after the braindump and the fifth after 5, from one repo of shared packages, with more in build.
